We rode 1/2 way to LeRoy from Austin end. Just over 10miles. Parked our car at a gas station that’s there and took our electric scooters! Weather was beautiful and in the 80s but we were not too hot. The trail was boring and followed the road. Straight most of the time. Weeds are growing into the trail and the asphalt needs repair. Lots and lots of cracks! We had a good time but we won’t go again.
Trail is in very bad shape, especially from red wing to Welch. Not sure where the wheel pass money is going. Definitely not worth paying for.
I rode the length of this trail from Phoenix Park in Eau Claire to the endpoint in Durand and back in early June 2025. The trail was closed at Owen park but it was easy to get around it. Further down the trail there was a sign that about a mile or two of trail was to be closed from 6-9-25 to 7-2-25 which was after I was on it. At about 11 miles just north of Caryville the blacktop surface deteriorates and the trail becomes more adventurous. Just SW of Meridean the trail is closed for an impassable short flooded section. Wonderful sunny fall day. Joined the north section of the trail at 494 bridge and headed south. A number of new/repaired path areas made the ride smooth going. Great sights with leaves fallen.

I was surprised to discover at the end of the trail was brand new pavement that connected the north and south sections together. The new paved trail was wide and included a tunnel. The trail brings you into the Bison area of the park.

Please put this trail on your to do list. Faribault to Mankato is 39 miles of scenic trails and small villages that have embraced the trail. The only down side is the underwhelming trail head in Mankato (no services) other than parking.
Lovely rural bike trail that end too abruptly and could use some TLC.
Being from the Twin Cities, I still try to hit this trail once a year. I like it a lot. But even on a Wednesday, the trail can get very busy with walkers, runners and other cyclists especially at the Rochester end.
Beautiful views of the lake. Rode twice to get 10 miles!
The day was perfect for biking and this trail made it even better. Variety of landscapes; bison preserve, farmland, woodlands and river views. Majority of trail was very smooth and clean.
